BARBADOS

Barbados is the most easterly of the chain of Caribbean islands being located 13.3°N, 59.8°W. This approximately 100 miles east of the Windward Island chain and approximately 300 miles north of the northern coast of Venezuela.

It is 14 miles long and 21 miles wide with tropical weather year-round. Daytime temperature averages 84 degrees Fahrenheit, nighttime temperature 76 degrees and the variation from the hottest to coolest times of the year is approximately 10 degrees. July - September is the warmest time of the year and December - February the coolest.

The island is constantly swept by the very pleasant and cooling Trade Winds that blow from the Atlantic Ocean on the east. These Trade Winds, the warm weather, calm clear sea, beautiful sunrises and sunsets as well as its people who are some of the friendliest anywhere in the world, make the island a true gem, a paradise on earth.

Barbadian culture reflects a mix of influences, namely African, European, North American and to a lesser extent East Indian. This is manifested in things such as music, dance, dress food and spoken language.

Activities in Barbados!
Barbados offers a diverse range of activities and attractions for visitors. At the beach you can simply relax while tanning in the sun or you can swim, snorkel, ski, surf, ride a jet ski or wave runner, go sailing or parasailing.

Away from the beach there are many options for island tours or tours to specific places of interest - by helicopter, light airplane, tour bus or van, special jeeps, taxi, motorcycle or bicycle. There is an underwater submarine tour available as well as glass bottom boat tours that offer the opportunity for viewing the marine life. There are options for lunch and dinner cruises on boats or catamarans.

Other activities, some of which may have to be arranged in advance of your visit include golf, lawn tennis, polo, hiking, scuba diving and squash.

The south and west coasts of Barbados are well known for their restaurants, bars, nightlife and souvenir shops and vendors.
